Desiring God--After the Bible, this book ranks at the top of books that have influenced me in my spiritual walk. As a Christian, my aim and purpose in life is "to glorify God by enjoying Him forever."
Blue Like Jazz--People either love this book or they hate it. It is unconventional thinking at its best and many people find it to be offensive. I love this! Controversial material gets me energized and I LOVE stirring people up by asking controversial questions or sharing perspectives that border on offensive but that are theologically sound. Note: The Shack is another title that fits in this category and while many people found it to be heretical, I enjoyed it as a work of creative fiction . . . though I did disagree with some of it.
Huckleberry Finn--Mark Twain is one of my favorite authors because of his skill in satire and irony. Of course, the rich texture of the plot and the three-dimensional characters add to the overall value. But in the end, my love of satire and biting social commentary are fully realized in Twain's work!
Story (Robert Mckee)--One of my biggest passions is story (in any medium) and so this book personifies my love of Story. As a writer, this book also is very dear to me as it contains invaluable insight into screenwriting and story-writing! Note: The Gospel of Genesis, The Story of Joseph and Judah, and The Art of Biblical Narrative, all fit within this category as they show the literary design of Scripture.
Okay, now for a 'normal' overview of who I am. I am a Christian. I am a homeschool graduate. I am a writer, a soccer player (13 years), a piano and mandolin player, etc.. Politically, I am a republicrat (mostly republican with some democrat perspectives) I refuse labels and absolutely hate them so if you want to know whether I'm 'conservative' or 'liberal'. . .
